Model 510 has a NEMA-12 enclosure.  For outdoor applications, Model 510 should be installed within a secondary enclosure that's rated at least NEMA 4.

The factory's warranty period for Model 510 is one year.  No calibration is necessary (or possible), which mean there’s no need to retain someone to do semiannual or annual calibration visits.

To minimize the likelihood of nuisance trips, some end-users connect three Model 510's to a PLC in a 2-of-3 logic array.  The idea behind a 2-of-3 logic array is to mount each of the three seismic switches far enough apart from each other so that aseismic vibrations would affect only one of them at a time.  If all 3 were connected to the same PLC, a unit-specific alarm could be issued whenever any Model 510 is in its actuated position; but a control signal would be sent by the PLC to the application only when 2 or 3 of the #510's are in their actuated position simultaneously.  Most modern PLC's have 2-of-3 capability.

Each Model 510 has two identical Honeywell #BA-2RV22-A2 Microswitches.  Because each microswitch is SPDT (single-pole, double-throw), Model 510 is considered to be a DPDT (double-pole, double-throw) switch.  You may use one dry relay contact (N.C. or N.O.) to seismically control devices, and the other dry relay contact (N.C. or N.O.) to send an actuation-alert signal.  You'll find wiring details on the attached Operations and Maintenance Guide (5-page pdf).

Model 510 must be reset manually; it cannot be reset remotely.  Model 510 is rated for 20 A at 125 VAC or 230 VAC; and 10 A at 125 VAC "L".

As part of UL's quality-control program, UL performs random quarterly inspections at the factory (PSP); also, PSP performs a full set of 20 shake-table tests for every hundredth seismic valve or seismic switch in its production line.
